I remember the Sun trying to kick up a non-existant fuss about it the song, accusing George Michael of “cowardice” for not releasing it in the US, but calling him “irresponsible” for releasing it in the UK (Sun journalism is not known for its logical arguments). But I’m glad he released it when he did, instead of bowing to tabloid pressure, although it probably did hurt sales.
