Definitely a shih tzu. They love small places, since they are small. Also they don’t need really any exercise except once and awhile, just throwing the ball around the apartment. So I would definitely recommend that kind.

a small dog..bid dogs need a lot of room so a small-medium sized dogs are good.

I guess you want something that doesn’t go mad or anything when left alone Well greyhounds/lurchers are good, I own one and she’s totally chilled out all day, all she does is sleep really until she’s out on a walk and she lets all the energy out.
She doesn’t bark much at all, only if the door goes or something like that.
She is also very friendly and loving.

Although I say this, I guess any type of dog could be suited to your conditions, depending on what his or her individual character was like. If you go your local animal shelter and describe what you would like, they are more than likely to have something for you

Lhapsa-Apsa’s and Shiz-tue’s are REALLY good dogs to have if your not gonna be around much. I have a Llapsa and a Shiztue and they stay pretty quiet and they seem to do well when I’m not home. Never had a problem with messes or anything.

Thanks so much for looking at adopting a rescued dog who needs a home, rather than purchasing a puppy–there are so many great dogs needing homes!

If I were you, I’d definitely look for an adult dog living in foster care. The reason I say that is because an adult dog’s size and temperament is known. And a dog who’s already in foster care (a home setting) is already “discovered” by his or her foster parents. They know activity level, noisiness, trainability, etc.

One note: You may want to stay away from dogs in the hound group, such as Beagles. Hounds tend to be vocal (and LOUD when they’re vocal!) and can sometimes be stubborn and hard to train…I know because not only did I work at a vet clinic for 5 years, I now share my life with a hound mix named Cinema!

Boston Terriers were bred for apartment living. And I think I recall that Great Danes are actually good apartment dwellers.

A pug, it’s a great dog for an apartment as they don’t need much space and love hanging out with their owners and lying on the sofa. They like food, attention and comfy place to relax.

Pugs work well in apartments but they need your attention. They love to play play play and are natural born comedians. They are happiest with a housefull of people and are great with children. They are extremely friendly little dogs and know no stranger. They are very lovable dogs and enjoy being around you. Bred to be lap dogs, they’re true to their breed. They love to sit in your lap, beside you or hang around your feet while standing. They’ll follow you everywhere through the house and keep you company. They love to go on walks whether it’s all around the neighborhood or down to the corner and back. They love to go anywhere and everywhere - doesn’t matter if it’s to the post office or to another city. They can be trained to puppy pads or going outside.

Pugs require a lot of your attention … and they shed like crazy. They’re absolutely the best dogs to have around. We have two and they keep each other company. They can do some really funny things together. We love them to death and couldn’t make it through the day without them!
