I am thinking of getting another dog. I have a female dog that will be 3 in Feb. 2008 and I was wondering what small dog breed would be a good companion for her. My dog is very friendly and playful towards other dogs. I live in an apartment so the dog would only be able to go out when my husband & I take her on walks. I am wanting a female dog. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what breed would be a good breed to get? I am wanting a dog that would be no bigger than 15 lbs. when fully grown.

-Mini Poodle
-Lhasa
-Shih-tzu
I just adopted a Chinese Crested female. She is the perfect house dog.
Google them and you will see.
Check petfinder.org and adopt a homeless dog.
Go to your local animal shelter, Humane Society, SPCA and adopt an adult, fully grown dog with a known personality, that way you get exactly what you want and save a dog from being homeless.
Think about it, total win/win situation.
any dog will be good indoors as long as you train it well

My sister did internet research and found out that Shitzus are rated the best family pet. They were bred specifically for companionship and nothing else.

how about a sheltie they look like miniature collies I know a lady who has one in her apartment and the dog seems so calm and good natured and she said he really didn’t shed too much they are really cute dogs.
A Bichon Frise is a fabulous dog to have indoors. They don’t shed hair and are very friendly. They are a small dog just what you are looking for. Good luck. If you do get one of these I will throw in a lovely name for her as well, how about “Shiloh”.
