My dog likes his dog treats alright but they are very bland. I’ve made some dog treats for him but they were still kind of bland. How can I spice them up or what’s a good recipe?
I know there are dog treats you can get from bakerys that are actually pretty good to the human taste! They usually are dipped in a kind of icing but i’m uncertain what it consists of.
So if a human could like it, a dog would LOVE it and that’s what I want. A superb dog treat that’s not harmful to the dog. Any good recipes you know of?

well, i made molasses dog (and human) biscuits for my dog. she adored them! i’ll get the recipe…
2 cups cornmeal
2 eggs
2 Tablespoons molasses
2 cloves garlic (i didn’t put that in-i didn’t want her to have garlic breath!)
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup powdered milk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients. Blend until smooth. Roll this mixture out 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes or shape into dog biscuits by hand (i got a dog bone cookie cuter). Place 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
My dogs just love these:
1/2 cup while wheat flour
1 large egg
1 jar veal, chicken or beef baby food
Mix together and dollop (about the size of 1/2 dollar) on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.
Keep refrigerated.
Not to criticize the above person, but garlic is TOXIC to dogs and I wouldn’t recommend using garlic.
Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Dog Food Rolls are what my dog loves. It is actually intended to be a dog food but I just cut slices off and then crumble little pieces for training and sometimes just for a tasty snack. They work great and can be frozen once they are opened.
Sorry I don’t know any recipes. I don’t like cooking for myself let alone my dog lol.
just remove a bit of water or broth ur recipe calls for and add
peanut butter or
no salt vegies or
baby food or
fruity pebbles or
beef or chicken liver ground up. mine love this although they eat all of the above.
garlic powder or chopped cloves to it…not alot. it helps keep fleas at bay! i have given garlic to my dogs for years. there is garlic in many dog foods.

I just give mine dog biscuts. They are bland and well kind of **** but…if I start spoiling my dog with homemade treats then it sort of becomes expected and expensive. Then when you stop giving it to them they wont eat the cheap - store bought ones…kind of like kids.
Oh also…NEVER give your puppy / dog garlic. Garlic is toxic to dogs. So I saw that in an above recipe…dont try it.
Other toxins: onions and chocolate. Just a heads up.
Allthough it would take quite a bit…I just wouldnt risk it.
