dog
frooliemew asked:

I have two young children and would like to get a dog. We have two cats but I feel like it’s time for a dog. I don’t want a large dog but I don’t want one of those small old lady dogs either (I won’t be putting it in the shopping cart to go to the grocery). I would prefer short hair because I don’t want to be vacuuming up dog hair all the time.

I have a bicon frise poodle mix and shes a great family dog, she needs lots of attention and shell only be about 8 lbs as an adult, she doesnt shed and shes super lovable, you should look into a bichon frise, theyre a little pricey, but worth it

WE HAVE A GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER, AND 4 KIDS. THESE DOGS NEED ALOT OF EXCERSIZE, AND THEREFORE KIDS ARE GOOD. IF YOU GET A PUPPY AND IT GROWS WITH THE KIDS THEY WILL ALL BE HAPPY. AT 10 WEEKS OLD I HAD ALREADY TAUGHT MY DOG TO COME, SIT, STAY, DOWN, AND OUT. THESE DOGS ARE VERY SMART AND EXTREMELY AFFECTIONATE. THEY ARE MEDIUM SIZED DOGS WITH SHORT HAIR, SILKY TOO, AND MALES ARE BETWEEN 50-60 LBS. FEMALES ARE 40-50 LBS.

I think either a lab or a yorkshire terrier!! Labs are the best, but they grow big. Yorkshire terriers are so cute, and short hair.

I think what you might be looking for is a poodle they are graet with kids they do not smell or shed even a poodle mix is good

Beagles make great family pets.

ATP on 4 December, 2006 at 5:33 am #

Labrador. They are short haired, great with kids & very tolerent. They don’t need as much exercise as a lot of larger breeds to keep them sane - most labs will very happily eat & sleep all day although you do need to make sure they don’t get too fat. They are intelligent but sweet natured.

ManUtdbaby on 4 December, 2006 at 12:52 pm #

a lab or lab/golden retriever mix because they are the sweetest

ANY dog can make a great family pet. It’s really up to the owner how they turn out!
I’ve seen little dogs that were more of a pain-in-the-ass than my 102 lb German Shepperd & I’ve also seen plenty of big dogs I’d like to shoot on site. The problem is that these are usually the result of bad owners, not bad dogs.

I’d say golden retrievers, labs, or maybe even a dachshund. Golden retrievers might have too much hair, and I’ve heard that dachshunds make good apartment pets. It’s hard to give you ones if you only want short-haired. If you forget about the hair I would suggest a Austrailian Shepeards. They are awesome dogs!

I love Pugs. They are small and have short hair. I have 4 and love them all! They are very sweet animals!!!

Corgi. They love to play, they have short hair, and their not very small. As puppies, they are tiny, but can grow up to be a medium sized, affectionate, smart, dog. I have a Welsh Pembroke Corgi puppy, and she is so smart, she actually found out how to dribble a ball like a soccer ball. She LOVES to play fetch and catch, and she’s pretty fast for a dog with 6-inch legs, actually faster than anyone in our family. She knows a LOT of tricks like sit, stay, down, come, and a few others. However, the sometimes nip at your heels, trying to herd you (they were originally bred for herding). They LOVE to chase and play with animals, I know because I also have 2 cats. They are actually pretty quiet dogs. They are also really cute, the have huge ears that stick straight up, and they love to jump in peoples lap I think a Corgi is the dog for you.

i think basset hounds are great family dogs. they’re 45-65 lbs, loyal and eager to please their owners. they also love attention and sleep hard!! they’re great with children.

the only thing is that they shed all but 6 weeks of the year.

i’ve heard standard poodles are great family dogs, too. you don’t have to cut them freaky like you would think…let them be shaggy!

good luck!
