Jason asked:

There are 3 dogs in the house. My roomates’ dogs have no problems with proper potty behavior.

My two year old G Shepherd is a great dog but not the smartest. While I am at work or away from the house I keep him in my room via a child gate (crates are terrible to me so not an option even as punishment) and he has never peed in my room. While I am at home he goes in and out about twice an hour and does his business outside but for no apparent reason he will *** on corners (always the same two) in the house. I don’t rub the nose but just use the “You’re a bad dog” routine. He sulks and knows he has done wrong but will not stop this behavior. Any clues?

You have to watch how soon he pees
after you feed or give him water, then
take him for a walk, in time he will let
you know when he wants to go out.
SORRY I didn’t read all of your question
If it’s the same spot, you are going to
have to get rid of that urine odor in the
corners, he has marked them as his
territory. There is a product on the market
called URINE GONE takes care of the
stain and the odor, and he will stop.

Crates are a training tool, they are NOT meant for punishment.

Is your dog neutered? How do you clean up the mess? If you’re using ordinary cleaner you aren’t removing all the smell and the dog is attracted right back to that spot. You need to use an enzymatic cleaner such as Nature’s Miracle to remove all traces of the mess.
