From the 1987 film Hachiko monogatari (aka Hachi-ko). Wonderful movie that tells the true story of an Akita’s devotion to his master. Unfortunately Hollywood is currently working on a remake scheduled for release sometime in 2009. Song is Bittersweet, by Within Temptation. Thanks for watching! Honors! I actually learned this story from my dad, since we`re a Japanese family. And everytime I hear, or see this, it really breaks my heart. And it also makes me wonder how humans could be so cruel to animals, even to dogs? I hope that a story like this would touch animal abuser`s hearts, and realize how much it is when You have a loyal companion around You, even though they`re just dogs, they could always keep You company.

Betty used to wait for me the same way. She’s no more now.I could not stop but cry, after watching this clip. And BitterSweet just suits the video.Another movie that I can’t forget ever is NankyokuMonogatari(Antarctica). It would have been real heartbreaking for Hachiko to find her master missing. She might not even be aware that he was dead. Her trust in her master, that he would come back for her, made her wait for him for 10 yrs. This is called friendship. Humans still got to learn so much from dogs

same here, i would agree but the original version was a little to hard to understand and the way Hachiko died in the end wasn’t realistic. I mean he dies on the streets in front of everone and people just walk by him. I’m pretty sure that in the real story, Hachiko died in a more peaceful area. The remake however, is copying this movie but what they are trying to do is make a better version of Hachiko in english so people could understand more of whats happening in the movie/story.

Not a chance… it is a purely Japanese story and they will be American-izing it. The old one is beautiful and tells the real details, while the newer one is making most of it up and not telling the entire story (from what I understand). The remake might turn out well, but I’m really not looking forward to the Akita boom it will start. Those dogs are beautiful, but too high matinence for many families.

I found this movie sad, but it wasn’t the best movie/story, I’m guessing the remake will be better.
